Mar comhtháthú leis an gcuraclam ar fad, cuireadh béim ar ealaín agus ceardaíocht
ó thús na scoile.
I dtús báire cuireadh seomraí geal tarraingteach ar fáil do na páistí le
pictiúir ar na ballaí, seanfhocail nó dó léirithe go soiléir i ngach seomra
ranga agus sna pasáistí.
Sa dara bhliain tosaíodh ar an gclós a mhaisiú le deis a thabhairt do na
páistí cluichí difriúla a imirt agus ag an am ceanna suiomh súgartha, spreagúil
a thabhairt dóibh chun a samhlaíochta a mhuscailt.
As the seanfhocail goes "Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine".
Art plays a major role in the personal, social and academic development of a
child. It also has its role to play in the production of any drama. In the lead
up to every drama undertaken in the school, costumes and props have had to be
made. Most children down through the years would have first hand experience
in the making and decorating of such costumes.
In 1993 the school offered knitting, sewing and craft as an extra curricular
activity. Most children attending these activities learned to knit and create
their own little pieces, sweat bands, hair bands, scarves, Barbie accessories
etc. and a number of children began to knit their own jumpers. They were also
exposed to paper crafts; dough crafts, ink marbling, T-shirt printing, odds
and ends collage to mention but a few.
O bunaíodh an scoil cuireadh neart fearrais ealaíona ar fáil do gach rang
agus ní mór buiochas a ghábháil don Bhord Bainistíochta agus do Choiste na dTuistí
a shólathair an t-airgead. As a result the children are enabled to experience
a vast range of creative activities and projects. One need only peek into a
classroom to see the imaginative display of each and every child. The children
take great pride in their work and especially enjoy having it displayed on the
main notice boards in the hallways of the school, not to mention offering a
prize for the most creative effort!
Ná déanfaimid dearmad ar na duaiseanna a bhuaigh páistí don scoil. I mí
Dheireadh Fómhair 1997 bhuaigh Deirdre Nic Shuibhne duais do luach £1,000 don
scoil i gcómortas Tesco agus í Deireadh Fómhair 1998 bhuaigh Charmaine Nic Lochlainn
seinnteoir CD don scoil í gcomortas Sonio.
In 1999 in an effort to expose children to Art on a broader scale it was
decided that each class would make at least one school tour per year related
to the Arts. So far this year classes have visited Mullingar Arts Centre and
Barbaró Children's Drama. In doing so we hope to give our children a sense of
art appreciation, and knowledge
